The Inspiration Behind the Punderful Cat Pun Illustrations
How did this silly project begin? It all started with my two boys, Nibbler and Rufus! I’ve always grown up with cats, and they are the source of my constant inspiration. The Punderful World of Cats began as my evening escapism during a previous job as a greetings card designer. Since my bosses were dedicated dog people, I wasn’t allowed to draw cats on any designs. So, I started sketching these silly feline puns in a simple pen style after hours.
However, after leaving that job to go freelance, the project really took off! They became the full-colour illustrations you see today and have developed into a massive collection over the years. Ultimately, the process is simple: I find a recognizable figure, create the perfect cat pun, and draw a funny, unique illustration. The goal is simple—to make the world a funnier, more feline-friendly place, one silly cat drawing at a time!
